Top: F21, Skirt/Shoes/Bracelets: thrifted, vintage

Remember in my last outfit post how I talked about learning to love my limp, straight hair? After seeing Megan’s voluminous locks on Sunday’s episode of Mad Men, I was inspired to revisit my undying love of 60s hair. Old habits die hard!

This outfit is 80% thrifted, save for the slouchy shirt. From head to toe this entire look cost probably under $25. I thrifted this awesome jersey skirt over the winter, and since the temps have been mild as of late, I’ve worn it a few times a week, it’s so damn comfortable!

Every once in a while I fall in love with a piece of clothing and wear it over and over again, then forget it exists for a few months, then rediscover it, etc. Do you guys do that, too?

Moody

Moody

So, I kind of disappeared from blogland, huh? And back now with hardly a fashion-forward outfit (not that they ever are, but…). It’s just time to get back in the swing of things, so a mediocre, basic black moody outfit will have to do.

Three weeks or so ago, I chopped off 8 inches of hair, and have SORELY regretted it since. Tried to style it a million ways and nothing looks right. I’ve always aimed to make my lame straight hair wavier, higher, bigger, curlier, etc. On a whim yesterday, I hit it with a straight iron……and much to my surprise, loved it. What’s this? Make straight hair straighter? Almost 30 years of life and I finally embrace the hair I was given! Well, except for dying it from its natural ashy blonde to dark brown. One thing at a time!

Mane n’ Tail

Mane n’ Tail

My hair has reached unruly lengths! It’s longer than it has been is quite some time, and I’m having fun actually being able to DO something with it. Most days it lands in a pseudo Gibson girl updo (or that’s how I imagine it…in reality it’s probably just piled up on top my head) because I just need it to be OFF MY FACE.

But every so often it’s nice to just let my hair down.

Jealous Hairstylists & Kind People: A Romantic Fall ‘Do

Jealous Hairstylists & Kind People: A Romantic Fall ‘Do

I’ve been growing my hair our for ages. Well, specifically since I went to Mark’s hairstylist about 4 years ago. While cutting my locks, he asked how I knew Mark. I told him we were dating, and the scissors stopped instantly. “Oh. Really?“, he asked, his tone changing immediately. The rest of the appointment he was eerily silent, and I walked out with the worst haircut I’ve ever had. A friend best described it as “medieval page boy”. Jealous much, Bobby?

My hair has finally recovered from the hot mess Bobby created, and is a length I can do some fun things with. The lovely Ariel of Pomp and Pride asked if she could send me some pretty hair things she has no use for with her pixie cut; I happily accepted!

This piece is so whimsical and perfect for fall; I couldn’t help but put aside my fear of butterflies and build a romantic ‘do around it.

Enjoying morning coffee in a sweater with the windows open and a chilly fall breeze passing through.

Painstakingly restoring this 1930s lace beaded gown. As in – I am in pain! I’ve spent hours hunched over this beauty, repairing the lace. My neck hates me.

Trying out a side braid. Mark called me Snooki.

Getting fall and winter items prepared / listed in the shop!
